Hosting their annual Member’s Choice Award Show in the historical Community Playhouse, South Valley Civic Theatre supporters attended the black tie optional event decked out in show business fashion. Those theater people – nothing if not glamorous! All smiles were the nominees of this year’s show including Colleen Chipman. Chipman was nominated for best actress, director and set design – a new type of triple threat.

Whitney McClelland wore her directorial success well with a stunning feather wrap in honor of her show “HONK!” Zana Vartanian, costume designer for “HONK!” and Jamie Haskell mingled with the crowd of fellow performers and families active in the theater life of South County. Speaking of no family member left out, SVCT can count many all-family casts including the Mandel family and the Tom family. Frank McGill, a pilot for American Airlines and his wife Del, a flight attendant for American, both create schedules where they often step from the flight deck to the stage in a matter of minutes.
.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for … the Best Actress award goes to Sandi Lewandowski for her role as Ida in “HONK!” and Lane Grover received the Best Actor award for playing Ugly in “HONK!”

Congratulations performers and producers at South Valley Civic Theatre. The community looks forward to next year’s productions of “Count Dracula,” “Inspecting Carol,” “Company,” “Narnia” (directed by the exceedingly talented Carol Harris), and “Annie” (the sun will come out tomorrow and the next day, etc.). Whew! Count me in on one of those stage mothers trying to get their little girl in the title role.
